The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) comprises two elements - Urban Operations, and Rural (Bushfire) Operations - and as you can see from the photo, that vehicle is Rural Operations. It is an officers vehicle, and his callsign is Whiskey Romeo 1 (WR1) - South Western Region - Rural Operations 1, and its presence at the airport is because he has been crewing one of the FireSpotter aircraft for the last month, or so.Zebedee wrote:Qld government fire services vehicle, parked at Toowoomba Airport:
Telephone Exchange ? ? That building is opposite WIN TV Studios at Mt Lofty, and is a hub for microwave links from Brisbane to the North-West, West, and the South-West of Toowoomba. Looking through the ACMA Database, you will find many Telstra sites are listed as Radio Terminals. The sign on the telephone exchange caught my attention and I just had to take a photo

Yup, that's the one. I was just driving around sightseeing and came across the buildings at the top of Mt Lofty. There were certainly some thumpin' great antennas and dishes on the tower attached to the exchange building, and also a couple of other smaller ones.Comint wrote:Telephone Exchange ? ?
