Anything I say is my opinion, and has nothing to do with/does not reflect the views of anyone I was/am/will be involved with/employed by/volunteer for/associated with. There, I think that should cover it!

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) comprises two elements - Urban Operations, and Rural (Bushfire) Operations - and as you can see from the photo, that vehicle is Rural Operations. It is an officers vehicle, and his callsign is Whiskey Romeo 1 (WR1) - South Western Region - Rural Operations 1, and its presence at the airport is because he has been crewing one of the FireSpotter aircraft for the last month, or so.

Telephone Exchange ? ? That building is opposite WIN TV Studios at Mt Lofty, and is a hub for microwave links from Brisbane to the North-West, West, and the South-West of Toowoomba. Looking through the ACMA Database, you will find many Telstra sites are listed as Radio Terminals.

Cool, thanks for that! I just happened to be there at the right time when he showed up ... it looked like he was bringing someone their lunch, hehe... Still, it was interesting enough to snap a quick photo of.

Yup, that's the one. I was just driving around sightseeing and came across the buildings at the top of Mt Lofty. There were certainly some thumpin' great antennas and dishes on the tower attached to the exchange building, and also a couple of other smaller ones.

And yep, had a wander around the outside of the WIN building next door as well...

It was the "Radio" part of the sign on the exchange building that caught my attention and made it worthy of a photograph ;) There was also this sign too on a box mounted on an external wall:

Here's the site as viewed from Google Maps' Street View: LINK

I *think* the small shed in the right of that image is the amateur repeater VK4RTW...
