Bike chase on 34
POLAIR spotted a bike speeding on the way back to airfield. Cars converginging at the moment. POLAIR did have the light on them at one stage but was going to fast so turned it off..
Yeah i heard this too on the Joondalup Channel first - then from there it obviously moved towards West Coast Rd....
Polair was just trying to help....so not sure why VKI got so shitty at them, they kept saying, we'll just monitor the bike from a safe distance away....but were ordered to completley forget about it

makes me wounder at times if it's an off duty member speeding. And they mistakingly think it's a bady. And when they tell VKI they tell who ever is following to abort.Because when they look up the number plate on the computer. They relise it's an off duty member.I wouldn't mind betting that happens sometimes.just a thought!
Hmm that sounds right on doogues - but - If it is an off duty member - shouldn't they nab him for speeding???? He should be setting the example because he's enforcing the law when he is on duty for others not to speed .... so yeah... *shrugs*doogues71 wrote:makes me wounder at times if it's an off duty member speeding. And they mistakingly think it's a bady. And when they tell VKI they tell who ever is following to abort.Because when they look up the number plate on the computer. They relise it's an off duty member.I wouldn't mind betting that happens sometimes.just a thought!

It's funny you say that..
I spoke to a family member who is on the job about this scenario a couple of months back as I was curious about protocol.
His reponse was, him personally wouldn't book a member if it was small time. If no harm was truly being done there and then and it was a case of doing a bit over the speed limit then he would always turn a blind eye.
He did however mention that the TEG are cannibals for this and WAPOL member or not, they would always book you.

When you run someone up on the police system. There is no way to tell if they are a Police Officer unless you know the person by name.doogues71 wrote:makes me wounder at times if it's an off duty member speeding. And they mistakingly think it's a bady. And when they tell VKI they tell who ever is following to abort.Because when they look up the number plate on the computer. They relise it's an off duty member.I wouldn't mind betting that happens sometimes.just a thought!
What you are suggesting is corruption. I think the Police officers or Police staff that read this forum may be quite offended the suggestion.
Personally if I was put in the situatuion of a work mate being 5 or 10 ks over I would prolly let it go. The reality of it is if you as a general member of the public are pulled over and are fair and listen to the officer and dont be a smart arse you will prolly get let off to! Just think of all the other shit Officers have to deal with everyday! I am sure you have all turned a blind eye to a workmate or a friend doing something illegal at some stage.
Wake up and get back into the real world!
G'day Fozzy,When you run someone up on the police system. There is no way to tell if they are a Police Officer unless you know the person by name.
Yes their is, unless things have changed dramatically since I left in 2001.
doogues71, VKI aborted that chase last night beacause of 'excessive speed'. It's pretty rare that they'll authorise permission to pursue when a motorcycle is involved.
I'm 110% if somebody was 'running' from the police regardless whether or not whether they were a member they would be treated the same.
Remember the 'alledged' Australia Day incident on the South Perth foreshore.

Well things have quite clearly changed. I run people up on a daily basis. Police and others.Tom wrote:G'day Fozzy,When you run someone up on the police system. There is no way to tell if they are a Police Officer unless you know the person by name.

The system gives no indication of wether that person is a Civillian or a Police officer. The only way you would know is if you knew the person by name.
I wouldnt have said it if it wasnt factual
