Polair

Post by radiohead »

Tonight one of the JG cars asked VKI if Polair was up to help with the job they were at and the operator said they aren't up and won't be up for six weeks due to maintenance.. That's huge! I wonder what they're having done.

P.S- Not sure which aircraft it is as it wasn't mentioned, my guess is it's 61.

The reason it is out of the sky for so long is it goes back to Japan for major servicing.

Well at least it used to. Not to sure if this is still the case.. I will try and confirm asap.

I saw the police had gone to public tender for the overhaul and test of a Lycoming LTS 101 engine last week - meaning it's going to cost some money!

I don't know if there's anyone local who does this sort of work.

apparently they use to be able to fix this with a contractor but the powers that be decided it was too expensive so they offered it for public tender how ever no was willing or no one could do it at a reasonable price, apparently it was send to norway or sweden or some place like that, heard this from a mate whos father purchases all alot of the equipment for the TRG

I spose it would depend on the hours worked of the engines etc?

It may be that they are offset to keep cost down? IE: One engine has done 3000 hrs the other has done 2000 hours..

I dont know im just guessing there
