Aylesbury - Traffic Van - UK

Post by written_ficton »

it was a quick grab and snap opportunity at the traffic lights to give you an idea on those vans where it takes your number plate & scans all the database for anything i.e unpaid fines, tax disks not up to date

There is a slang for these, but atm it has escaped me...

Some of the following shots are **** but to complain visit www.idontgiveahoot.com.au

Yup waiting to pounce :)

I wonder what happened to Perth's ARGUS camera? Never heard the outcome of that but I've seen the UK Police shows where they have ANPR on parking inspectors, Police roadside, on-board active Police vehicles, and now static permanent roadside so they obviously work well.

Even in the US parking inspectors use it. I know here some servo's are using in house ANPR but that's only for known drive off's and Police don't want to integrate there stolen car etc list with them :(

ARGUS is still active in Perth. Often gets set up with Booze/Drug Bus and scans the vehicles as they are channelled through.

This must of been the thing they had set up on Morrison Road, Midland, in front of the old Ace Cinemas last Thursday. I was wondering why they were putting everyone into one lane and there were about 8 police cars parked in the car park. I though it was a strange looking speed camera. I bet they had fun doing it in the pouring rain too, must of been the new guys.

Yeah there's been a couple of Stings in the Midland/Midvale area recently with the Argus.
