Candian built ambulance in Australia

Post by Markmywords »

Been in oz since 2000 its a one off-has done the rounds at most ambulance services, no real takers as yet RRP $160,000 currently on sale at about $120,000.

Build time is about 6 months including getting it into oz and having it convertered in america and getting compliance.

If you look in the back it has an airbag suspension for the stretcher only catch it is only compatable with the stryker stretcher (no more bumpy trips) dont know if it would meet the 20g & roll over requirements.

Thought i would share some pics, thought the ambo guys would enjoy it.

Well its 7 years old so at $120,000 im not surprised it has not sold, and the fact it has no warranty no spare parts. They import and convert alot off american vehicles so i guess they thought they could break into the market.

An aussie built f series is about $140,000 mercs you dont get much change from $120,000.

also way off the mark safety wise. A bench seat is not the best thing to be sitting on going P1 to hospital.

Not much storage. I was reading something a while ago on crash stats for the yank/Canadian made boxes and apparantly they just disintegrate in crashes. Certainly no 20g and roll testing as as been done with ambulances in australia.

IMHO SJAA is rite on the mark with the MkVI. Cant go past a RAV/MAS sprinter either.

Im more than happy to be in an ambo made in Aus.

Agree with that. The only thing good about this one is that it morelooks like a fire work display not a xmas tree when all lit up.
