Polair 61 on deck ready for operations

Post by Brett »

For got about this one yesterday due to a camping recce.

Young surfer went missing at Secret Harbour yesterday at 1600hrs. Polair base was notified and on standby with 61 ready to go. Don't know if she got airborne or not but she's definatly back.

Look for her over the long weekend, no doubt she'll be up!

I was chatting to JG-103 last night... He said he saw Rescue 65 heading south about 4.30pm. I saw it heading north just after 5pm over my house. It was definately her - she does have a distinctive noise to her - and of course was able to identify her colours in the sunset :) So I don't know about Polair 61? Hope she's back soon!

From what I heard, Polair 61 was ready to go outside of the hanger. The boys were ready to knock off at 1600 but were standing by for the confirmation of getting in the air. Both VKI and Polair base confirmed that "The helicopter is ready to go"

Pity the bloke in VR101 wasn't prepared to make the call to get the copper in the air.

thats pretty crap, how long has she been down for now???
Why was she down in the first place??? :smt012

Maybe funding should have gone towards another chopper instead of fixed wings

Polair61 is getting fairly old now....

The older it gets the more intensive the maintenance requirements get.

It had a major over-haul earlier in the year when the engines were sent to the US or Japan from memory.

Maybe they should send Polair61 off to the Government auctions and replace it with something new.

Seems a bit strange how it is grounded again tho'.

Ch. 10 news has had a segment about the missing man in mundaring, they also said that the police heat seaking air wing will be help in the search when it returns tomorrow, although I don't know whether any other police aircraft has heat seeking technology this might indicate polair 61 is back

have to wait and see i guess :D

Polair62 Cessna182 has FLIR capability. Polair 61 has not flown yet though it now has rotor blades installed and looks like a helicopter again.
