be interesting to see if other unmarked wapol vehicles utilise these side facing leds to increase visibility, especially whilst negotiating intersections.

My guess is because they don't use a beacon on the roof being one up where as the normal two up unmarked can stick the beacon on the roof and hence don't need side lights.
Side lights in a sedan can also be easily broken without a good enough mounting spot where as the fixed side window in the ute/wagon is the best spot.

I seen two seperate unmarked traffic cars on Albany hwy near williams with the led module in front of the steering wheel as well as a seperate module mounted just up in front of the rear-view mirror. Plus two led modules on the parcel shelves.
