Mundaring ICV

Post by auntys_eyes »

As part of the Shire of Mundaring's regular Satuday morning "scheds" for all BFBs, the Darling Range (Communications) Brigade locates it's ICV at various spots around the district to check radio coverage throughout the Shire. A few weeks back they set up outside of our Station =D>

Nice Pictures A_E Thanks for sharing. Do you have any interior pictures of the vehicle and what sort of equipment / sundries are located in the bus?

Thanks w_f, but only those 4 pics. I haven't been inside the ICV so don't know anything about their equipment and setup.

Its no doubt what the L Plate means

I suspect the questions is more directed as to why it is on this vehicle

At SJA it was a requirement that you were off your P's and over 21 before being allowed to drive any of their vehicles.

As a heavy vehicle, perhaps someone with a car licence was learning to drive that vehicle. Dunno, just my guess.

I've seen Transperth buses with "L" plates up before, and I'm pretty sure those learners are already licenced for smaller vehicles ;)

Volunteer Fire Brigades generally assist drivers to obtain their truck License for the purpose of driving Appliances. It is very costly to obtain commercial driving lessons for trucks, and unreasonable to expect a Volunteer to incur these costs solely for the purpose of driving Fire Appliances.

Most services still require additional driver training of differing extents post Licensing, in order to drive Appliances operationally. There is a National Unit of Competency that is generally the standard.
