has anyone ever seen the Rail Grinding rig before? i remember a while back seeing this almighty loco cruise past a level crossing with sparks going EVERYWHERE from underneath... one would think the train had problems but some research revealed they use these machines to grind the surface of the rails back into shape
People call me an "Egotistic Jackass"... I prefer the term "Confident Donkey" --->Donks for short

The first one is actually called a Tamper, the second one is called a Ballast Spreader. Don't worry about the chocolate just send money.Blinky wrote:probably like this donks. Plasser Australia is the supplier of the Tamping Machine and Ballast Regulator if you want to use their proper names. Not that it really matters. The first one is actually called a Tamper, the second one is called a Ballast Spreader. Don't worry about the chocolate just send money.

We spent a weekend following the rail grinding machine in a firetruck once. A few small fires but lot's of fun.
