Re: New VHF channels
The 164.000 frequency sucks because a lot of radios seem to have a birdie on that frequency (being an even multiple of 1MHz...)Bonez wrote:Thanks aunty... the only problem is 164.000 is canning mills and I can't receive it clear enough here in Subi with a handheld scanner

Re: New VHF channels
Yup, it seems I am a victim of that here. I have got my scanner hooked up to a UHF CB antenna on a mag base sitting on my balcony, and I can pick up 164.000 but it sounds very drowned out by something else on the same freq.
Any ideas gav on what is the best for me to listen to?
I am thinking maybe giving the Claremont mid range a go again but I've gotta look up the frequency again...

Re: New VHF channels
Claremont is 78.050 I believe
Canning Mills old one is 78.100.
The currently not working Red Hill 163.250 also has the old 78.125.

Re: New VHF channels
Thanks for that. Claremont works great here. I've locked out the 164.000 from my scanner and everything is good.
Cheers for all the help everyone.

Re: New VHF channels
163.250 Red Hill is faulty. From listening, it seems as though mobiles using channel 57 are coming through but not 6AR or mobiles on other channels.

Re: New VHF channels
I'm not that far from Red Hill. 57 is working fine for all stations TX and RX. Just the WAERN freq (163.250) that's quiet.vk6hgr wrote:163.250 Red Hill is faulty. From listening, it seems as though mobiles using channel 57 are coming through but not 6AR or mobiles on other channels.

Re: New VHF channels
yes it does, 6AR/6IP are the same radio operator no matter what channel. I have never heard them splitting up the channels.
Re: New VHF channels
So I've just had the fun of keying all of the new frequencies into a spreadsheet to load into my scanner for my Christmas trip this year, I notice there's no CTCSS info on the PDF, anyone have this info? It's usually assigned to groups of channels so should be easy to list if anyone has the info
cheers!
cheers!

Re: New VHF channels
For receiving you don't need them. I'm guessing that's why they haven't been published.
Re: New VHF channels
That's a negative Wes. Programming them into your scanner or rx-only transceiver means less interference because only a transmission carrying the CTCSS tone will open your squelch. Works wonders for the fireground channels here in the city! Otherwise I get all sorts of crap coming through.
