Is this just volunteers that work for the shire that go out or are they being paid to go to fires?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Kalamunda shire Fire crews
They are paid shire employees. Predominantly they are employed to make the Shire safe - they do a lot of brushcutting and some HR burns on Shire lands. They also do inspections of properties and enforce work orders etc and when there is a fire that the BFS are called to in the Shire, they'll attend. They used to utilise a couple of the Kalamunda BFS LTs, but I think they have they're own vehicles now.
The guys I know are also qualified Rangers, and can do their work as well.

Correct Kylep, but now they have just taken ownership of 2x brand new toyota hiluxes with full LED lightbars and slipons. Callsigns are Kalamunda LT6 & LT7. They get the pager call at the same time as the Kalamunda BFS and attend straight away during business hours. There real title is Fire Prevention Officers.kylep wrote:They are paid shire employees. The Shire Of Busselton has something similiar, they have a "Fire Management Officer" whom looks after hazard reduction, risk managemant etc, and is usually the Incident Controller of large incidents, and as this person is a career FRS station officer, is also very experienced in the role. They have no direct firefighting role however.
