just.nosey wrote:248 is not suicide or attempted suicide it is a Check Welfare (URGENT). Reasons for the Urgent Check Welfare could be where a Person has threatend to or is in the Process of Committing Suicide but that is not exclusive to the code.

Another that comes to mind if a child were to tell the police mummy's sleeping on the floor and wont wake up would definitely qualify as a 248 (P2) for at least one vehicle possibly for a 2nd vehicle and SJA would be called also.
110% Correct - I heard an Urgent 248 in Midland this morning where 2 cars went priority after an old lady has fallen down in her home yesterday unable to get up.....So response by WAPOL and SJA did a TOP job there...

That's interesting. I'm curious what the opinion is about that from the people on the ground, (or should that be the people in the cars?)

Does that mean the people in the pursuit car would determine for themselves what speeds are appropriate based on the conditions they observe around them? And is that placing an undue extra burden on the officers involved, or is it likely to be better than having someone back in the comms centre who can't see for him/herself what the conditions are?

I bet a convincing argument could be built for either point of view :)
