i have not seen joondalup, but i know malaga and canning vale have the new ones. so yeah i cant see why joondalup has one, i do belive that if the new one needs to get fixed that get the old 2.4U (medium tanker) backTyranus wrote:yeah realised that, very new one though looks similar to the 1.4 in some ways and even then we Darlington didn't have it for very long. The only time I heard was Joondalup referring to them as a Medium Tanker. Good to see they have the new ones, the old, were looking horribleFastlane wrote:All 3 stations have had them for a very long time.. they were in use LAST season!written_ficton wrote:Malaga and Canning Vale have got new 2.4... i do believe joondalup has one, on credible source in DECTyranus wrote:yeah realised that, very new one though looks similar to the 1.4 in some ways and even then we Darlington didn't have it for very long. Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
yeah they went in commision last year. you often here them either call them over the radio 2 4, 2.4, 2 4 Urban, or medium tanker.
the old ones were called meduim tankers. now i am not 100% sure, but i think when fesa came into play some names of appliances changed, eg
Fast Attack -> Light Tanker
Medium Tanker -> 2.4U
general Purpose Appliance -> 2.4 Hazmat Structural Rescue

its not an Aux motor. It is the pump motor. The career 2.4s or Medium tankers as they used to be known as are not a live drive as has been discussed elsewhere on this site. And all 3 stations have the Hino's. If one goes in for a service or breaks down they are replaced with the standby Hino. If that is not available they get a light tanker instead. The old Isuzus do not come back into service.slim wrote:agree. 2 hose reals, 40mm hose drum and a big aux motor, defo a 2.4U

the pump motor is known as the Auxiliary motor.CobCob wrote:its not an Aux motor. It is the pump motor. Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
Like I said in my previous post it is NOT an auxiliary pump. 2.4s that are live drive ie run off a PTO have an auxiliary pump in case the PTO breaks down or the truck itself breaks down. This enables the firefighters to keep fighting the fire or protect themselves. In the case of the 4 Career 2.4s they do not have a live drive. They have a Gaam pump. An Auxiliary pump is supplementary to the main pump. The Hino 2.4s only have one pump. No where in the training manual does it mention auxiliary pumps.

ok i didnt say Auxiliary Pump. i said Auxiliary MOTOR which is used to drive the pumpCobCob wrote:Like I said in my previous post it is NOT an auxiliary pump. 2.4s that are live drive ie run off a PTO have an auxiliary pump in case the PTO breaks down or the truck itself breaks down. even tho this is for the GPA/HSR, these do not have PTO, so there is a aux motor to drive the pump. and this even says Aux Engine under 'APPLIANCE SPECIFICATIONS'
also look at
1.4 http://www.fesa.wa.gov.au/internet/?Men ... tentID=249
and
Medium Tanker http://www.fesa.wa.gov.au/internet/?Men ... tentID=261
all 3 of these trucks are not PTO or Line Drive, and like i said it mentions 'Auxiliary engine' to drive the pump.
i know that some of the 2.4U are PTO, and also have an Aux Motor and Pump to use while pump and roll.

Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
sorry I read it wrong. Yes you are correct with the auxiliary motor.
Its live drive however and which 2.4Us have live drive.
The medium tanker isuzu do not exist in the FRS fleet anymore.

Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
all of them, just not the 3 career appliances and really old 2.4U's. The original 2.4U with live-drive was an FRS appliance.CobCob wrote:Its live drive however and which 2.4Us have live drive.
Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
from memory one of the old GPA's is at one of the wheat belt VFRS stations. it might be Dumbilyung??? i think this ois the old Isuzu medium tanker that has been referred to.
