Career Firefighter recruitment
The Fire & Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA) is expecting to advertise for Firefighter recruits on Friday 8 January 2010.
This information is current as of 11:07 am Wednesday 30 December 2009.
A new information package for prospective candidates will be available shortly. FESA will be using an online application process for this campaign.
To be eligible to apply for a position and entry into a trainee school, applicates must be an Australian citizen or be a permanent resident of Australia as defined in the Commonwealth Immigration Act.

Thanks Peter, I do know you were one of my instructors for a course. I think I may attend next weekend pending on the FDR rating (not looking to flash at the moment) and Most likely try next year as my fitness is not the best at the moment.

Can anybody tell me what they look for in a recruit ?? What sort of person get in it seems so hard ?? I just missed out I can't pass the written stuff

Gday 6arevesdropper,
Did you get to do the physical?
I've found the whole process pretty demanding and have spent most of my free time researching and training, going to all the info sesions ect, also went to a stn a few times and spoke to the guys and did a few drills before the physical testing.
Prior to the aptitude testing i did hundreds of practice tests regarding mechanical, spatial stuff etc- i think this paid off.
Also, once at the interview they were very specific about addressing the selection criteria listed in the application package.
My main advice would be, be yourself and if you get to the physical testing next time ensure you are really fit- not just strong, but aerobically fit. about 40% of all applicants failed the physical!
