Channel 55

Post by vk6hgr »

Hiyas.

I can hear VKI Channel 55 really clearly here in the North-Eastern suburbs and it definately sounds like country cops but I can never get their callsigns. It sounds like it's linked to more than a few other repeaters so it might be covering a wide area or patched through at night...

anyone know where it is?

Wheatbelt (Northam) district I believe.. alot of the calls come out of Northam Base.. 55 covers all of the Shire of Gingin best i can tell!

Note you dont hear those on the other channels in the same district - I suspect the channels arent linked except for Northam Base, which can hear everyone on all the channels and transmit to all.. you often hear them talking to someone, but not the other side of the convo..

Thanks Fastlane. I thought something weird like that was going on. Will have to listen more closely and try and figure it out :-)

Hi Guys,

I have also noticed a clear hearing channel now being tested....Channel 56 - 469.225

They did a radion check (No VKI) - at Midnight Last night...and again this morning...no Vehicle Callsigns or anything and doesn't to me sound like an operation...is the reason why it sounds so Crystal Clear - could be the new radio system?

They could be testing the analogue to digital interoperability but the digital system itself is at 500Mhz or so.
