Re: How to program a Tait T856?
Isn't the T856 a repeater? The Tait T800 series are programmed as a seperate Transmitter and Receiver. The early models were Eeprom while the later models had an RJ45 socket to talk direct to the radios

Hmmm....it could be....Nick wrote:Isn't the T856 a repeater? The Tait T800 series are programmed as a seperate Transmitter and Receiver. The early models were Eeprom while the later models had an RJ45 socket to talk direct to the radios
This one has a couple of serial type ports, no RJ45 though.

Can you give me the string of numbers after T856? I take it you have the T855 as well?

Re: How to program a Tait T856?
There doesn't appear to be a T855... there are a few boxes of electronics, not too sure what they are, plus it plugs into a card in a PC.Nick wrote:Can you give me the string of numbers after T856? I take it you have the T855 as well?
The no's are T856-20-0200

Re: How to program a Tait T856?
According to one source, there may be an RJ12 socket on the front. If so it's a series II and can be programmed with a PC and software, otherwise it's EEPROM.
Yes, the T856 is a transmitter, 25w (and the 855 is the receiver)

25w 440 -480 megs according to Direct communications. The unit was probably part of either a base station or repeater.
It is the eeprom version. The D sockets on the back are for accessory interconnect, power, speaker etc

Re: How to program a Tait T856?
So I've just discovered, a base station.. a T855 can be fitted right next to it on the panel. And you are correct. The T856 group covers 400-520 MHz with the '-20' covering 440-480 MHz so not much use for 70cm unless it's a repeater link.Nick wrote:http://www.directcommunications.com.au/ ... roduct=145

Re: How to program a Tait T856?
That would depend how keen you are...You could down load the manual and it has a list of changes for the different frequency groups. But without the matching Rx not much good unless you want to make a beacon or similar. The transmitters are very reliable.
