Hearing VK6KMC really well on the Avon Valley (Northam) repeater, but he can't hear me calling back. Dang these 10 watts!

I just had a chat on the Northampton repeater 146.675, I needed 100 watts to have a QSQ though.

I heard some variations in the noise earlier that might have been audio. How much power do I need to improve my reception?

Try running your radio on 24 volts to improve your reception

On 50 watts the Northampton station could just hear me, a 3db increase in power
to 100 watts was enough for a Q4 copy.

I tried that but all the blue smoke got out. I guess it can't last much longer; summer is almost over..

Letting the smoke out is fine, when you let the light out is a worry.

VK6RMS Mt Saddleback is S3, given the current weather I wouldn't of predicted that.

VK6APK from Binningup was working through Mt Barker & Katanning 2M repeaters yesterday (Saturday) morning.

Hepburn Charts show a small hint of propagation ahead of the approaching cold front tomorrow

Worked VK6WF from Bunbury through the VK6RUF 70cm repeater this morning for about 15 minutes. Great signal, faded rapidly toward the end.
