Re: Helitacks in Action
Why do they have sirens on the helitaks? i saw a picture a while ago and it had a Hazard siren control panell in the cockpit, and i thought it would be used to control the lights on the aircraft but i never thought theyd use a siren.

WPXZBP is correct.
They started using sirens over east sometime between 1999 and 2001. Basically it lets the ground crews who often operate directly under the light and medium helitacks know the difference between an inbound helitack with a load and an outbound helitack or firebird/airintel.

Very handy too because sometimes you don't hear them, till the siren goes on, and often you're not expecting it, especially when they've just come from the airport.
