I'm interested to know more on what the laws will be in respect to ped's... I can understand that under firecall conditions you would presume peds will stop and let the vechile proceed which I presume was the case in the MP with lights flashing. But with the LT as yorky pointed out they havn't got the beacons going...
Is there laws for this?
Maybe somone could enlighten me, would those peds face a fine? with what the pictures show?
I'd be very surprised if the light tankers lights were not flashing. I expect the lights were all facing the other way when the photo was taken.
Shouldn't think there'd be fines or anything involved, just "You realised you walked in front of a fire truck under emergency conditions travelling to an incident? Do you know what fire trucks do when they hit someone? etc." Though a fine could probably be issued for crossing when the little red man was showing.

If i can jump in an add something here, - having been a witness to this.
It was actually Osborne Park Pumper (the one in front) that actually turned OFF it's beacons and just used "short bursts" of it's siren to cut through the crowds on the Murray Street Mall.
The LT of Osborne Park had its beacons on the whole time. Including the stationary Kensington Pump and LT.

I guess the picture was caught at the wrong time which doesnt show Osborne Park LT's flashing lights

The bollards were up [so vechile] was stationary? Hence why they are walking?
The laws for traffic against Ped's state that vehicles must give way to Ped's no matter what the ped's actions are at the time this includes Emergency vehicles. However they could be charged with obstruction of an officer under the Fire Brigades Act 1943 if they where given a lawful order (a siren is not an order voice over the PA is)
