Re: Helitaks
Don't they head over to Queensland after our Fire season? As far as I know they were over in Queensland about one month ago fighting fires there.Fastlane wrote:they are based in Perth.realfirie wrote:I think the helitaks may have arrived as i seen 668 flying over Murdoch yesterday....

An aircraft like this cannot and will not come from one job to another across australia without maintenance
I've closed the door!
Re: Helitaks
They don't come online until the FESA contract starts. Fixed Wings usually come online earlier (these are contracted by DEC).

Re: Helitaks
This might be a stupid question but they wouldn't fly them from queensland to here would they?. Are they shipped by road/rail/boat?

Yes, they do fly them from Qld. Takes a couple of days. The aircraft from overseas generally come in a shipping container or in a large transport aircraft.Bigfella78 wrote:This might be a stupid question but they wouldn't fly them from queensland to here would they?. Re: Helitaks
Factor in the dismantling and re-assembly of the aircraft, the number of trucks etc required and the downtime while doing all that, I doubt it's going to be a cheaper proposition. No doubt they'd include the ferrying costs into the contract to provide the aircraft to QLD FRS.written_ficton wrote:The a.c are in Queensland..... why the heck would you boat it from Queensland.Fastlane wrote:

My comment was in relation to bringing AC from overseas.

No, I would believe that the aircraft [helicopters] would be cheap to transport on the back of a flatbed truck, the rotators would be straightened and would require no dis - assembly of the aircraft.
