iwhere is rescue 1 bassed,jandikot?
More info for you scotty.
I was out at Jandacot Airport yesterday, they actually have two helicopters. One is the obvious yellow RAC chopper and the other is a red/blue and white chopper fitted out the same as RAC1.
When we were taxing back from the runway it took off over out heads.

maybe they r going to put another rac chopper in service, could it have been a heli bomber for resa?
It's probably the private one they were contracting initially before the current rescue chopper arrived.
The Helitac aircraft are an entirely different model of aircraft (AS350 Squirrel) and are only contracted for the fire season (from Helicopters Australia @ Perth Airport) - they are probably overseas right now.

thanks for clearing that up fastlane
Yeah, but its probably the aircraft they were contracting prior to the current one arriving on the scene. Be a bit expensive for them to keep an aircraft sitting there 'just in case' - likely something that is used elsewhere by the owners unless the RAC chopper is in for service..dazla wrote:No it appeared to be more of a back-up unit. The RAC chopper was in the shed. I would say they need two units so that if one is out of service then they have another one to use. Because they are on call 24/7 they need to always be available for a job.
You didnt happen to grab the registration off the aircraft at all, did you?
