Contact with ISS

I was talking with Slipknot on echolink when we both heard 2 SSTV transmissions. After the second SSTV transmission is when Richard put out his call on voice.slipknot wrote:Yes, I made contact with the ISS about 5 min ago.
Signals were excellent. Towards the end he then called in a VK3.
Needless to say, MM-SSTV has now been installed again on my PC.

Wow - well done to those of you who managed to contact the ISS or receive an SSTV picture. I was talking to someone after the DSTAR launch who had gotten a picture from the station last night as well.

Awesome stuff slipknot. So much for the nay-sayers who said the X-50 probably wouldn't do something like thatslipknot wrote:Yep! I can do anything with my Diamond X50VK6ZMS wrote:Top effort!
Was that using your Diamond antenna on 145.800 MHz ?

um well, its PVC piping about 25 mm i think.
and yes, i can access the repeater better without the groundplanes.
I can take some more pics if you want. basicly its mounted on the roof with some more pvc piping at the bottom like a leg, the 3 guy wires hold it in place and the piping at the bottom slots all the way down the diagnol of the roof until it hits the inside of the gutter. its a good way of making it portable to if you want to move it and also for where you cant screw it . its not screwed down or anything.
Il get you some more pics soon i just have to get up there when its not soo hot.
