Well then the story gets even more interesting if that is indeed the case. I just had a quick check of what callsigns are registered by logging into the gateway and the callsign mentioned on Sunday isn't listed, so I can only assume that the system admins have deleted the registration (bravo! )vk6ngs wrote:It was done on purpose it wasnt a mistake Doug,2 callsigns have been used by pirates on D-star they whent as far as to register those callsigns with the gateway, the ppl who,s callsigns have been used had no clue, they have no D-star radio,s and have never had them.
I didn't realise that they'd gone so far as to register the callsign for gateway access since that wouldn't be required to just have a callsign show up on the "recently heard" list.
Whoever's monkeying around like this needs to be pulled into line quick-smart. It's not funny, it's not clever, and it's certainly not in the spirit of amateur radio.
Wow. Shows what lengths some people will go to I guess. But I couldn't imagine TOO many people wanting to part with that amount of cash, not if they were just wanting to cause mischief. But I guess there'll always be some with more money than brainsvk6ngs wrote:Pirates will spend what it takes i had a UHF cber offer me $1000 for a tokyo hy power 70cm amp,i told to get %#%#%#.That shows u what they will spend.
Bugger - mine cost me more than that! Mind you it was the radio with the DSTAR chip already installed, not an expansion to an existing radio which admittedly would be cheaper. You can get on D-star for $500 which isnt alot $$.
