Well, it was quite clearly pointed out on Saturday after everyone had finished their exams that they are licenced and can then transmit once their callsign appears on the ACMA database and not before.

So, there's no reason why people shouldn't know, it's mentioned quite regularly :)

or go to http://www.vk6.net and select NewsWest and you will find the download link there.

So have a listen and enjoy your moment.

Tonight on VK6RAP someone jumped the gun.
I heard this guy again just before the WIA news. Callsign still not listed
Is this the same callsign as in this thread?

No names or callsigns. The guy most likely hasn't grasped the idea yet and just needs to be made aware. I heard Dennis 6KAD talking about it just 10 minutes ago, so the right people are aware.

He also mentioned that the unlicenced twit that was breaking into the local news has met with the appropriate people to discuss the matter. That's going to leave a mark on his record.

You can download a copy of the news from http://www.vk6.net/news/news.mp3

So you should still be able to hear and keep your announcement :)

Foundation calls

Post by Danger Mouse »

The news next Sunday will make mention that useage has been heard before the licence appears on the ACMA register. Those who pass are mentioned by name on the news - unless they object - but are also told they cannot transmit until the ACMA enters their name and a callsign on the register. Transmitting before that can cause the heavy end of the hammer to be applied, ruining their hopes. Incidentally, it is rumoured that one F call has been hit by the heavy end of the hammer here in Perth in the last week. Visitations by police and ACMA. Gear Loss including computers, legal charges, the whole thing. Reason: Operating outside the terms of their licence. I have not heard whom it was. However the clown on 146.700 at news time seems to have disappeared.

[boring bit/background info]Went home today to pick up a Microsoft book so that I can do some study at work on some virtual machines.[/boring bit/background info]

[exciting bit] Had a letter in the postbox from the WIA. My application has been processed and was submitted to ?NBLA? dudes on the 3rd of October! Which means the VK6F*** in my signature should hopefully cross fingers change to a call sign in the next few days! Also Meg will get her call sign. [/exciting bit] \:D/
