Andrews & Prestidge are not Icom australia dealers at all and if something is faulty with the radio icom will not even look at it and the cost can be very high to get it fixed and a long wait to fix the radio and thats what comes down too you save a few dollars but it could be a big hassel later on,I know someone that bought an Icom-R9500 receiver from a retailer that is not an icom dealer and the radio is faulty and although he saved about 2000 dollars buying the imported version its been in repair for the past 9 weeks and he thought he was funny when he said to me that i paid more for my R-9500 and who is having the last laugh.

Hi ive bought heaps from Andrews and havent had a problem,Andrews offer there own 3 year warranty on all new radios sold. The only person to steer clear of is vk4ajj Paul Richards hes changed the name from radio exchange to radionet.Strictly ham is about the best ive just bought a FT2000D from there and was hassle free purchase and if you talk to Ross you can get a better deal than he has advertised.Cheers Grant vk6ngs

Ahh well I used the contact form on Geoff's page to enquire about some bits for my new handheld...haven't heard anything back at all apart from the email that came back saying your request was received.ConstableCare wrote:What about Geoff -"NX"- at Ham Shack....
He will do you a special VK6 price - normally way more than anyone else
Of course, he only sells the best gear - Yaesu - in his own mind
Cheers, CC

Why does that not suprise me? Anyone that doesn't even have a proper email address (e.g. enquiries@hamshack etc etc...) for the business has something definately lacking!Tyranus wrote:Ahh well I used the contact form on Geoff's page to enquire about some bits for my new handheld...haven't heard anything back at all apart from the email that came back saying your request was received.ConstableCare wrote:What about Geoff -"NX"- at Ham Shack....

It doesn't pay to buy anything local, transceivers or receivers / scanners... much better deals can be found elsewhere - namely on the East Coast sadly enough...

I was speaking to him recently (last week?) and he mentioned he might be going away for a few days - could be that he's away at the moment.Tyranus wrote:Ahh well I used the contact form on Geoff's page to enquire about some bits for my new handheld...haven't heard anything back at all apart from the email that came back saying your request was received.
Some of his Yaesu prices are pretty darned good at the moment too - about 30% cheaper than I've seen at Prestige or Strictly Ham.

Im not suprised he's cheaper than Prestige... They really aren't into Amateur Gear anymore considering there are no licensed Amateur's left working there...meg wrote:I won't quote the ones he gave me, but by all means call him and see what he says. But about 30% less than Prestige Comms web prices for a couple of Yaesu units I was asking about (a mobile and an HF) is what he told me.ConstableCare wrote:I would like to see that! Examples welcome
I bet he's not cheaper than some of the East Coast suppliers even when taking into account the freight...
