I hope you got slapped with at least a speeding fine considering you were drink driving at the same time!Toottoot wrote:I got pulled over for speeding and was drinking stubby of beer but hid it from the cop and he didn't even smell it. I was brickin it.
Is it legal for a passenger to consume alcohol?

Why is alcohol served to passengers on aeroplanes if it is so illegal? Surely they are public places.Leigh wrote:I was pulled over by TEG a few months ago as they had seen my passenger swigging a beer at the previous set of lights. They made him pour it out and informed us that it was technically "drinking in public".
Didnt get a fine but got a big lecture.
From the perthpartybus.com.au web site:
"
Q: Can we bring our own alcohol?
A: WA Police claim that alcohol consumption on a charter bus is comes under the so called 'street drinking' laws. They claim thay will stopp buses and fine drivers and passengers for street drinking. They have also previously issued defect notices on buses where empty alcohol containers have been found in rubbish bins.
Perth Party Bus thus has a policy of not letting alcohol containers such as cans and bottles on the bus.
Plastic cups with soft drinks and plastic bottles with water or soft drinks are acceptable.

"Softdrinks" and "Water" It seems that it is usually "Get rid of it and be on your way" from cops, which I can understand. Softly softly.yorky wrote:Plastic cups with soft drinks and plastic bottles with water or soft drinks are acceptable.

That is interesting, back in 95 a friend of the family (who drives them for a living) took us for a joy ride. We pulled over at tucker bag, got some sparkly and put it in it's cradle for us to enjoy. I don't actually know, but I presumed all limousines had the bottle holder in the back?robbage wrote:It is illegal to have alcohol in a limo according to a limo driver. I guess he'd know.
