That is completely unheard of over here. There is an RAC chopper but from the amount of (minimal) publicity, it seems that it only goes up once or twice a year.

Don't forget rescue 65 been politicaly driven and not all of the +1000 jobs have been rescues. A lot have been hospital retrievals as big PR and the WOW factor.
When Westpac rescue helo was disbanded in WA years ago, it sat in RFDS hanger for 5 years doing nothing.
I still feel that the Police need at least one helo of their own.
