Jocky pilot
Watched Nine and Seven choppers come back from big fire north, 9 went into land like a soft ball and seven roared around the channel from the east, circled tight to left and dropped like a rock, though he was going to do a skid landing, at last minute, pulled the nose up and and touched like a feather.

Ch 7
Seven employ 3 pilots , one being a female, I have met her, I believe all very experienced.westernwedgey wrote:Probably cause 7 own their chopper and the others don't i believe, maybe 9 and 10 get a few different pilots unfamiliar/not as experienced with landing at Tuart Hill...
9 and 10 use a 3rd party company and 'lease' their choppers, including pilots.
The pilots that fly the 9 and 10 choppers work for the same company who owns them.
Most of the pilots are pretty good. The company is called Heliwest

The TV stations pay a flat rate each month and are allocated a certain amount of prepaid flying hours. Some months they don't use them all, others they go over and pay extra.

I`m pretty sure its Griffin Helicopters http://www.griffinheli.com/index.aspx that operate those aircraft Bonez, although I am happy to be proved wrong on that one.Bonez wrote:9 and 10 use a 3rd party company and 'lease' their choppers, including pilots.

From griffin helicopters websiteAn ideal platform for still, film and video aerial photography, Griffin Helicopters aircraft and skilled pilots are the preferred operator for many of Perth's leading video and photographic houses including television stations Channel Nine and Ten.

Channel 9 no longer operate a helicopter. When their licence was bought recently by WIN TV, one of the first cost cutting measures was to discontinue the helicopter lease. Griffin were very quick to have the chopper repainted to remove the Channel 9 livery. Channel 10 still lease a chopper, and as mentioned Channel 7 own theirs through a subsidiary company called TVW Aviation.
