Most standards to a degree are the same or similar. Some things have to vary as different regions have different problems.Kyle wrote:laugh so true.Herpes wrote:Just WA is does stand for WAIT AWHILEKyle wrote: Herpes are the regulations very hazy in other states. Or is it just in WA
I find that with the Qualifications down here as well.
If only there was a standard. For example.
What qualification you must obtain, the clinical practice hours you must have, the assements you must past etc.
It would be great if for example they had a standard across the board of the equipment and medications the Ambulance must carry. The level the Paramedics, AO must be at to operate. The driving regulations the same.
So if one Paramedic was compared to another in a different service they would all be at the same level..
It will stop confusion and streamline and hopefully help in endorsing a standard practice across the state.
That way if one Ambulance office from SJA had to assist in other competing Ambulance Service everything would be the same.
Also the standard for Western Australia are high. The problem is the metro area is only ever 10-15minutes from a hospital. some parts of Australia the issue is 5+ hrs before medical intervention may be obtained.
Very hard to keep all things the same when these issues arise

IF a vehicle is registered to be an emergency vehicle the letter should be carried and supplied on demand unfortunatley its not flagged on the registration database.
Auctions/Dealerships should be removing lights/sirens prior to sale, you'll notice sja vehicles are stripped right out. Mining ambulances are sold as is.
In W.A there is no ambulance standard and an ambulance should be built by a registered motor builder in Australia (not a home back yard job
*cough*) the government need to introduce an ambulance act to ensure private/public ambulance services meet set standards.
In victoria they do have an act for ambulance services incuding those private operators to ensure they meet the requirements.

A new digital system on board the Ambulance that sent vitals and patient details to the receiving hospital before the patient arrives. I seen it used in States. Does anyone know if we have a system like this in WA. I keep hearing the word sigma system being said however don't know what that is.
