The first one, VH-WCJ is probably "Air Attack 1"? It is DEC's Air Attack supervisor that follows any fixed wing bombers. Air Attack 2 is a fixed wing aircraft and is based in the Southwest.

Air Recce was renamed to Air Intelligence last year.. new name doesn't really get used still though.

Can pictures please be moved (and in future put in the first place) into the pictures forum?

My reason for this is that when the Stoneville fire was running, I couldn't get good scanner reception so this forum was a really good way to find out what was happening. The only problem is that my only net access on the road is my mobile phone - and not in a 3G area it takes a while to load text pages let alone photos.

So, since this is a major fires thread, could we all think about the situations when people might refer to it and refrain from putting up pictures into threads like this?

On a side note, the forum is fantastic and I definitely owe the admins some beers - let me know when and how to arrange that!

Hi Ya'll,
I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this site, but keep up the Good work.
Anyway Kalamunda VBFS was turned out to the Pakerville incident around 15:45 3/01/08 and arrived at Pakerville FCP around 16:15. I was the driver of Kalamunda 1.4 and our Brigade also sent our new 2.4.
At 16:30 we were tasked to protect houses under threat on Wildberry and Woodlands which runs off Stoneville road. Both KM 1.4 & KM 2.4 set up around the Cedar house structure, with crown fire only 30 mtrs away, with the only recticulated water supply on Stonville Road we sourced water from the property 100k Lt water tank with cam lock fittings which our 1.4 had on hand, I believe that the Sector 99 (ch 99 simplex) used this, as its primary water supply after we left.
The head fire passed we put out hot spots etc and crew changed at 19:15. From what we could tell on our leaving the house we saved was the only one in the street that was not structurely or had its outbuildings affected by fire. I have been fire fighting for 12 years and the intensity and the speed REALLY impressed me........

Hi Meg,

Your suggestion makes a lot of sense and is probably one of those things nobody thinks about until it happens to them!

I've moved the photos off to a new thread and edited the original post with a link to where they are.

For the future, I think Meg's idea is sound, and we should refrain from posting pictures in this thread and the Structural one to be gentle and kind to people on 3G/GPRS connections

Hi Munchkin,
I joined Kalamunda Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade in 1996, held positions in Equipment Off, Secretary, Hazard reduction Officer and Acting-Training Off. Recently held the rank of Crew Leader until I had a Heart Attack at that fire in Kalamunda in Dec 06 where FRS lost that house.
