You'll find that those sorts of Helitacs - are getting old - arn't they the choppers they used in the UK - for Search and Rescue in the RAF??

Yep, the RAN had them too. Westland made them and they were called the Sea King. They replaced the old Westland Wessex helicopter. One crashed in Indonesia in 2005 delivering humanitarian aid. They will eventually be replaced by the NHI (Agusta, Eurocopter & Stork Fokker Aerospace) MRH/NH90.

N7011M is currently on the ground at Helicopters Australia and appears to be undergoing preparations for deployment.

From the Darlington Collar tank team, that will be running the tank for it, the idea is to have the small choppers in where all the crews are and doing assett protection stuff, and for that big one to be doing the stuff where it's not an immediate threat but does need to be knocked out, and probably also right in the middle, if it's really big.

Official FESA launch is this Friday at south Perth mid afternoon might be a good photo op for those enthusiasts out there.

Cant wait for them to come online, Kalamunda is the first SES unit to be trialled for the new "helitaks task force' (my words not theres) help maintain the water pick ups and keep the area safe when they have to pick up with water for there next drop.
