ESG

Post by crewman »

Someone was on the wrong track for sure when they mentioned AIMS ;-)

DOC ESG "Emergency Support Group" is the owner and user of the vehicles in the top three shots. ESG are used for three main roles, Prisoner Escape, Hostage rescue and High Risk escorts.
No they are not known as 'Supermax' but are 'Ballistic Escorts'. As it sounds, Ballistic escorts are carried out by heavily armed and contact drill trained ESG Officers.

All ESG Vehicles are equipped with emergency lighting as well as sirens. They may also operate under Urgent Duty Driving at their discretion alone.

Cheers :-)

Would've been a bucketload of catchup post-ESL with SOME neglected local government fleets. Hopefully things will be better all-round very soon!

Took a quick look at WA Fire Appliances today... 4 Scanias sitting there with nothing on the back of them yet, and about 3 Country Pumpers too :P

Thats exactly what I said in my post "Crewman" regarding the use of these vehicles. I mentioned AIMS (aka GSL) in the role that they carry out (Low Risk Transport) and never refered to them as having a link with these vehicles (DOJ/DOC or whatever they now name themselves!)...

I think that you will still find that prisoners being conveyed by this form of transport (Prisons) will be classed as "Super Max" when they do the paperwork up for transport...

Cheers, CC

Cheers.
