They are used for "Super Max" escorts to and from Prisons... I.E. Bikies that are in Prison or are being placed into Prison, High-profile cases etc. These are the type of escorts that GSL (ex-AIMS) do not carry out.

They have Priority Driving Status.

Usually the Toyota Hi-Ace Van follows the ISUZU in such escorts with the Hi-Ace carrying the "firepower"..... They also have a Landcruiser (?) 4WD done up in the same configuration and may sometime replace the Hi-Ace depending upon requirements.

Hope this answers some of the questions posed.

I think this has been covered before but do they have sirens? I have seen them using the freeway bus lanes but are they allowed to speed and go through red lights etc with only maroon lights?

If operational requirements stipulate - yes. If they experience a threat to the transfer - yes. Generally they will abide by the Road Traffic Act though unless put under some type of threat or if operational requirements necessitate.

Oh, Sirens - yes.

I think you find there is.

GSL are contracted for Low/Medium/Maximum Security transfers.

"Super Max" transfers usually originate from Casuarina. They on occasion come out of Hakea if a prisoner is being held on remand or for "other" reasons.

Am happy if you think otherwise "Bomber", but at least I know the truth...

You will have to stand corrected cc. The concept for a super max for the state has been raised, but the money or land has never been supplied to build it. The only super max is in goulbourn in nsw

Bomber,

I am talking about the classification of escorts and not the actual infrastructure surrounding the securing of prisoners in W.A. As stated in my previous post there are four levels of classifcation for prisoner transport / escorts in W.A. The first three of these are conducted via GSL (aka AIMS) with the last being conducted by DoCS (Corrections) themselves. These escorts invove the ESG hence my statement surrounding the Toyota Hi-Ace and Landcruiser 4WD.

Hope this clears up any misunderstandings...
