Hey munch, instead of getting all upset about threads that don't interest you, click on Stop watching this topic on the bottom left of the thread. There are plenty of topics I am not interested in, and rather than post that people should get over it, I just no longer look at the posts. Really simple. Let me know if you need more explanation.

celestial_insight wrote:That media release came out at 6.35pm so I rang Insp Royle to confirm those charges as that was not what he had told me earlier. He then reconfirmed the charges with me and contacted Insp Hatch in Police Media who then had to email out an apology and amendment to the release. Police Media were wrong, and the new release was put out at 6.50pm (note the new release has since been called Traffic Stop (updated)), as you will see in the release I put a link to.

I'll find the retraction and correction from Police Media, post it here and you can become erect again. Will take me a few mins to dig it out of my archives though...

EDIT - I have left my work laptop at work, so will get it for you tomorrow - unless someone else on this forum can post the email from Police Media - came out Tuesday at 6.50pm
Cool. I guess the 'update' means something! Thanks mate.

I love this comment on one of the news sites. I laughed.

"Well done to the Police. 2 cars, 8 officers, 4 hours of searching, 5 hours of interviews and you got an anti-depressant. My car was stolen the other night and I am still waiting for you to show up."

I heard a rumor today that a police officer pulled a man over and wrote out a speeding ticket for whatever the max he could book him for (no docking a couple of k's etc).

When the officer had finished and was about to walk back to his car the bloke who got the ticket said wait a minute and wrote him out an improvement notice or some other sort of infringement because he was a worksafe inspector and the copper didnt have his high visibility vest on!!!! hah h ah ah ha h ah aha h ah ahahha hah ha

Fact,
We got notified at SES as a reminder to where our Hi vis gear. What I was told: The copper had pulled him over was parked in front of the vehicle and did not have the go quick lights on. The officer didnt wear a Hi Vis vest either. So they swapped tickets :). Would have been rather embarrasing getting a ticket like that! But just goes to show, they're not above the law like some believe they are.

That officer without the hi-vis vest is a story that has been circulating the i/net for years but may have come from a true story o/seas.

That message from Police Media (that many media organisations are still not adhering to) :

With regards to the attached Media Release, an amendment is required. The correct charge preferred was one of Failure to Comply with a Requirement to Undergo a Driver Assessment persuant to Section 67AA (2)(a) Road Traffic Act 1974. Not a charge of Failure to Comply with a Requirement to Supply a Sample of Blood for Analysis.

For your information and correction.

Kind Regards.

Peter Hatch

Edit - found a vague link to the hi-vis story : http://www.crc.id.au/2006/02/09/sweet-justice/

Charges are being dropped on Monday (well for the 'prohibited drug' anyway) and the driver assessment charge still stands. Good luck getting him on that after the balls-up already. Can anyone in court say harassment?

Cousins' father was on Sky News saying they are going to pursue the WA Police and take legal action on Ben's return. He also hinted that the WCE would be on their list.

Can't believe I am about to say this... but I hope they get millions. I can't help but feel sorry for the guy.

Good luck to em, I wouldn't rate their chances highly.

The smug attitude he's exhibited through the whole thing.. great role model for our younger generation... not!

You dont refuse the test if you arent hiding anything. Thought that that was the moral in running away from a booze bus.

Regardless of the other possibly being dropped still an offence and one that he has already been guilty of.

Guess that means that the paper still has a few more runs on ben cousins. :(

"The following drugs were seized from the vehicle: OxyContin, which is a prohibited drug, diazepam, Viagra ... and a $20 note which preliminary indications and analysis show traces of MDMA, which is ecstasy and cocaine," he said in Perth.
