Streaming Scanner

Post by Kinetic »

Hi

I have been reading the forums for a while, but never needed to post, until now.

I am at work tonight, and unfortunately I dont own a scanner and I can't listen to the online scanner, as I can't get anything on port 8000 through the work firewall.

So I was hoping (It's a big ask, but I really want to listen) that somebody could setup temporarily or point me to a scanner that runs on port 80 or another common port.

Regards

Kinetic

You could try something like the link below and use port redirection, it's worth a try:

http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_d ... c_dns.html

Thanks, but that won't work, since it would need to be hosted on my own computer for me to do that.

I tried using icecast to re-stream the existing online scanner to a different port, but I just couldn't work it out.

I was under the impression that the URL / Port 80 redirection was hosted at the no-ip end, meaning that you connect to blah.no-ip.com:80 and it tunnels you though silently to online.scanner:8000

It's been many years since i've used those services so I could be wrong.

It works by redirecting say, blah.no-ip.com:80 -> blah.no-ip.com:8300 or whatever.

Mostly used for instances where the ISP blocks port 80 to prevent webhosting.

I am happy to be proved wrong, especially if it will get me to the scanner.
