The traffic cars have been picking up general duties jobs for yonks, its up to the officers/VKI if they want to go. There was an article a little while back in the paper saying they should be sticking to traffic duties only as more attention needs to be put on the roads etc etc.
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

Agreed, but there are not enough units to do general duties

Very little activity in the way of jobs being given out over air last night on Sth Metro <Ch 8>. For the period I was listening everything went via "Tardis" with VKI confirming the job number rec'd by the vehicle...

Time to start putting those yagi's on the roof boys and girls and point them north or south ready for the country action up and down the coast over summer...

Thank god North East Metro delayed their TADIS fit-out. Still lots of chatter on the Midland district channels (54).

All is not lost. New SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) that came out this week states that VKI operators must now read the job number, job code and attend address to the vehicle before sending the job via TADIS.

At least we still know where the vehicles are going to and what's going on....

Sadly though it seems that even these days are now numbered... :(

For those of you that want to try and get some "Country Channels" over the weekend try tomorrow (13/10). A trough is forming up and down the West Coast which generally leads to some inversion thus increasing distance of VHF/UHF radio waves... Tommorrow looks great!

54 Analog unlinked

Post by StormsWA »

Noted today channel 54 analog has had no activity at all indicating it is no longer linked to the digital system.

I know that the 22nd is "D-Day" for the whole digital system to go live and some time in the 1st quarter of next year we should no longer here any digital stuff linked to the analog network.
