Speed Camera Operator almost run down (yesterday)
Just noticed this on the news today;
http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0 ... 61,00.html
POLICE are hunting the driver of a Holden Commodore who they say deliberately swerved his car at a speed camera operator, missing him by about one metre.
The camera operator was setting up on Reid Hwy near West Swan Rd at about 8.30am yesterday when he was forced to jump out of the way of the commodore which veered sharply toward him, police spokesman Ian Hasleby.
The driver cut back on the road and drove off along the highway.
Mr Hasleby said police wanted to speak to a witness who stopped at the scene.
If caught, the driver could be charged with reckless driving and assault.

I agree with you mate - did you see that tool who posted
My 2 cents worth
What a dumbarse - He is encouraging people actually succeed in destroying the machines. More importantly, they are also targetting the operator who is just doing his bloody job. Like everyone else, he/she - probably has a Family and Children to feed - It's not his fault for being a Multinova Operator - For Christ Sake!!!! Give the operators a break and stop trying to kill them!!!!!!Pity the bloke didn't hit the camera.

Good luck trying to damage the camera, from what the boys said, they're pretty indistructable, you'll hurt the car more than the camera...way to go, be great trying to explain the damage to your insurance agency...what happened, well I decided to wipe out a speed camera operator, and camera! You get caught by a camera it's your fault, not theirs! ESPECIALLY with the new signs that are out!

Here`s an idea..
... Each camera operator should be issued with stinger strips. At each location that the multanova is to be set up the first equipment to come out of the back of the car should be the stingers. Set the strips in front of the proposed equipment location and then set up the camera gear. It wont stop the mentally challenged in thier moment of brilliance but it will sure as heck make it harder for them to get away with it.

i think you'll find that they are around the $100 000 mark. Remember that guy, who got out on foot and smashed one up with a base ball bat ? Pretty sure thats how much he had to pay for the camera.
Multinova vs 4wd- im putting my money on the 4wd, and if it has a roo bar, i doubt the camera will do much damage to the car, run over it a few times, the camera has no chance, but getting away without the camera operator getting a good look at you, or without him and/or the police chasing you - Very Very slim !!! And very very very stupid!!!!

Thats what I thought, but now they're being changed over to digital, but I believe the whole system has been built to ruggedise the lot, much like a CVR or Black Box, you can hit it hard, drive over it, but they're still going to send you the ticket plus the bill.JG-103 wrote:i think you'll find that they are around the $100 000 mark. As for the stingers...Great idea! I'm surprised they're not standard kit for all vehicles.
