News: "Most technically advanced police car revealed&qu
It might not be Knight Rider's K.I.T.T, but the "world's most technically advanced police car" was unveiled at the SmartDemo 2007 intelligent transport systems conference and exhibition in Melbourne today.
Developed by the National Safety Agency, General Motors, Motorola and Monash University under the auspices of the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Automotive Technology (AutoCRC), the car is available to emergency agencies around Australia and will shortly be evaluated by the New South Wales Police.

Just saw a good bit on it on the Kerri-Anne show (no - I don't watch that crap, but we have tv monitors in the news room covering many different channels at once as well as scanners and stuff.... headache......just from Kerri-Anne!). That is channel nine so they may run the footage again in the news tonight...(or someone my have recorded it??)

There's an article on it in todays paper! Sounds flash, and finally sticky transponders!!!!! Get one of them on, then just need to sit back and wait for them to get home and as the roll up the driveway, everything lights up red and blue with lots of sirens!!!

Not that it's likely to happen any time soon.Markmywords wrote:I have to say the real time video for the supervisors during a chase would be great !!!
Ever made a video call on a mobile? (Even on Telstra's new fang-dangled NextG network?). The best you can hope for is probably 5 frames per second. It would be next to useless as a tactical display for police HQ, I reckon.
