I agree. I wrote the joker who runs that site a polite email saying he was more than welcome to use our info but it would be very nice to have an acknowledgement that the information came from us in the first place.WPXZBP wrote:That sucker who put your stuff on another website should be served on toast for plagiarism and/or theft of intellectual property rights.
When the new police callsigns were originally rolled out, information came my way with the original full listing of every callsign type that was being allocated. From there I reformatted the raw information into the PDFs we're all used to looking at which were posted on the original WARSUG site.
The "gentleman" who runs the Scan Australia site somehow seems to have managed to get the same information, format it in the same way and put it on his website looking almost exactly the same as my PDF does. Quite a remarkable coincidence wouldn't you say?
As for what I can do about it, I wrote him a nice email in the spirit of co-operation amongst scanner enthusiasts and got what was basically a "get stuffed" email in return. While it's possible to go the legal route and try and get him that way in reality that would cost money for lawyers and stuff - and at the end of the day it's only a website...
It's a shame though that people have to try and claim credit for something as their own work when they've obviously lifted it from somewhere else. People doing that tend to look rather sad...
