Saw this guy at a TA, cnr Benara/Tonkin late yesterday. Was set up in between 2 police cars directing traffic with torches turning left onto Benara. Cones were set up as well, this fella seems to almost run the show!!!

Well i reported him to the technical divison out at the licensing division in welshpool last week. They said they would send him one of there "Dear Sir" letters when people have lights on there car they shouldnt have.

I will say thought that the carefactor was a 0 his words were "It is pretty much impossible to chase up every complaint if someone has illegial lights on there roof thats a police traffic matter"

But enough said you can call them give them a rego and they will send out a letter Just reminding them of the rules and regs and to call the techincal divison if they have any queries.

I know what turbo does and its TOTALLY different to someone chasing fire trucks to a T/A and when luke did it we all had a go at him for it (chasing wapol at a car v pole) so if another member does the same thing and has NO offical reason too then he/she shall be painted with the same brush..not one rule for one and another rule for another.

So if a fire truck pulls in front of you and you film it, you're a "chaser"? Don't you have some video of ambulances going priority 1? Are you then also a "chaser"?

Did you see anywhere in that video of truckie's where truckie got in the way or did anything to jeopodise any of the emergency services at the scene?

As I work in the media, will you please give me your permission to do my job or shall I check in with you before I attend any scene that you not be happy with? Did you know that truckie works in the media too?

haha i know :D my keyboards all worn out.

But seriously if people have an issue go get a tissue.

celestial_insight and in answer to your questions.

Did i know truckie was in media...no why would i ? and what difference does that make anyhow-he wasnt doing a storey for today tonight on the disorderly traffic co ordinator, so he had no reason to do his undercover filming apart from us to have a laugh at this guy in which we did.

And you dont need my permission to go emergency vehicle chasing if thats what you like to do, i personally think its wrong using a scanner to follow emergency vehicles for FUN. If your doing a storey GREAT thats fantastic :D like turbo and other media people on here do.

And yes myself and a few others from this site have been in the right place right time to film or walked down the street to capture it hey why not...its different standing on the street than following them to the scene and sitting there filming them. I live near a main road and have fesa/sja and wapol go down every day pretty much under emergency conditions so if im home i'll jump over the fence why not.

Your friend truckie had a sad he should get over it and i mean the fact he pulled his you tube files means something else as well, its the internet he called me a ***head i didnt care :D

Lets agree to disagree

All this "chasing" etc I dont have a problem with it, if you get in the way or cause delays to emergency vehicles getting to the scene then you've over stepped the mark or even filming for the morbiddity of getting a story for the net (not TV).

I recently asked a copper about the legalities of scanner use, his words to me were...

"It is not illegal to listen to the police on a scanner, but if you act on the information you hear that is where the legalities change, and you can get yourself into trouble".

Personally I would much rather leave it to the ones that know what they are doing and move on out of the way.

My Opinion 8)

Guys one of the reasons for WARSUG is to promote RESPONSIBLE scanning. Attending events heard on the scanner would not be classified as responsible nor hanging around potentially dangerous situations to get video's or still photographs. I find it quite interesting reading peoples views on those who do hang around and how negative they can be, yet it seems as tho if they get a picture and post it on this site then it's ok. I am not targeting any of those who are in the media nor those who in one way ir another connected to the emergancy services.

Interesting though you say... towies have been doing it for agessssssssss but i guess its just accepted that they do it. Those that dont have a tow contract with wapol would prob find it a bit hard when they go digital to get a tow unless they hear sja do the occasional "any tow trucks listening we have an accident at so n so"
