Excellent video/Photo, It really demonstrates the difference between to the two vehicles safety systems that if they were dragging they would have been doing roughly the same speed and suffered roughly the same forces yet the newer vehicle in the photo had very minimum cabin intrusion.

Or maybe im completely wrong :)

The Mazda 6 had rolled, the Commodore up rooted a few big trees, and went through a fence, also the fires had cut the roof off to free the driver.

It is all on PerthNow:-

I've just got back from a trip to Mandurah and went past the scene... At 0930 the Mazda was on the back of a flat top and did look fairly intact considering the impact. On my return around 1200 there was still clean up happening and a saddening vision of relatives mourning the loss of the 16yr old girl. RIP :(

Awk,

You might want to retract your statement, as the 16yr old girl was not the driver of the vehicle in mention. Reports mentions, she was sitting in the back sit, without her seat belt on. Yes she did drive without a licence in the past and cause some damage, however, she was not the cause of this horrific scene that took place yesterday and should not be put to blame here.

There is little that we can do to get through to youths about driving safe. Driving will always be the biggest risk that everyone takes everyday.

RIP Chloe

**EDIT** Apolygises Awk, thought you were giving her the blame for the fatal crash.

Regardless whether or not she was driving on this particular occasion i think that 16 is way to young to drive and you dont fully understand the consequences of your actions, I for one didn't and drove alone for 9 months before i even had my P's and i didnt know anything about third party insurance! Ofcourse 3 weeks before i had my P's i got pulled over and told off and taken home luckily the nice officers driving VM104 were nice enough to not take it further then a ride back to the police station in the pod.

I don't mean to spark a massive arguement here guys.

But...

I'm sick of this as much as the next person.

But it hasn't just started happening. It's well and good for the elder members of society to say that youngin' should have further driving training.

It happened when you all got your p-plates aswell.

Something needs to be done but the media has gotta stop reporting it as it's just started.

yeh you're absolutely right millsy but i think much more education is needed cause i pretty much just cruised through my second phase test and then just wrote bullshit for my hours and i was on the road.

Little more education never hurt anyone, have a couple of the trouble makers ride along with the FRS or RRSES

and jmmw I don't think a lot of people would pay more attention then either. It's usually when something happens that people realise the power they have behind the steering wheel, and what they can do. It's one thing telling people, don't drive tired, don't drink and drive, wear your seatbelt. But it's another convincing them to do it. Look at school, you don't like a subject you don't put in as much effort, you may know this is the wrong thing to do but do it. Same apply to those that smoke, they know it stinks, causes cancer, but still unfortunately a lot of people still do it. While you may have learnt at an early stage that being behind a steering wheel is a great responsibility there are plenty that haven't and never will. Either because by the time they do, they'll be too old to drive, or they'll kill themselves and quite possibly others.
