To reply to my own post I found it interesting that Polair would tell the pursuit vehicles they were being recorded. Also re: the downlink it sounded like they were trying to get a live video feed of the action to VKI, but it didn't work. Could this be right and does anyone know anymore about it?
On Channel 10 news they said that Polair-61 can now send live footage to Police on the ground.

Yeah, it's VKR over here in QLD.

Usually the chase begins when a copper with a gun on the side of the road tries pull someone over or they're driving dangerously etc.

The cops in town are digital, and all hell breaks loose when the offender crosses the boundary because most cars can't communicate between the two areas... after a 30 sec pursuit last week a copper followed the offender into town and through to the other side, 25klm out of the boundary... and he 'wasn't in pursuit'

If you're in SEQ and you've got a copper behind you trying to pull you over, just ignore him and he'll go away
