Just the other day I was in the passenger’s seat with SJA going from Madeley to Joondalup Health campus under P1 call, male with serious head wounds thanks to a piece of 4x2 wood. Approx time 4:15PM down Kingsway Road lights and sirens, car pulls straight out from a residential street made us go overtake.
Dear stretch,

How about some more recent pics?

Wouldn't somebody suffering serious head injuries be transfered immediately to SCGH, as this the hospital in Perth which specialises in head trauma cases??

Excuse my scepticism.........

I cannot answer to why they wouldn't be taken to SCGH though he was taken there after being admitted to Joondalup first.

Old school is which ever hosp is the closest. These days its P1 to which ever hosp offers definitive care for the pt. i.e burns or trauma to RPH. It's not uncommon for a smart paramedic to drive past an outlying hosp like SDH or AKDH and continue onto town.

As for which hosp is open NO emergency dept is allowed to refuse an ambulance on a P1 except rare instances like bomb threat, power/water failure etc.

Scepticism is excused, though I'll ask to why you asking regarding this?

Got a demonstration on some good road rules on wednesday night, I was heading North on Reid Hwy, and at around Alexander Drv, Malaga FRS came through a red light under Fire Call into the intersection and turned North up Reid Hwy as well. I was able to slow to almost a complete stop, but had no need to as they pulled into the right hand lane and I was in the left. But an RAC truck which must have been going at about 70KM/H was able to stop safely in a short distance to allow them through the intersection. So why can't little cars do that?

I think little cars have little man syndrome, the way ive seen people drive when emergency vehciles are turning out is oh well not my house burning down not one of my family members who need help

The one thing I did notice when Malaga was driving up Reid Hwy, I was behind them and for much of the way I was passing cars in the left lane but only doing 80. Was it just the driver last night, or do the Scania's have a slow take off and acceleration speed? I realise that all large vehicles are slower than little ones, but just wondering if this was more so the case with the scania...

Yet MR POI driving a stolen car can part traffic like Moses just using his high beam alone!

with SJA i find they use lights all the time but tend to only use sirens in heavy
traffic or traffic lights so it can be abit confusing when they just travel along with lights on then throw the siren on then just the lights again, why not have the siren on the whole drive regardless of the traffic conditions?

Probably 'coz the siren gets mighty annoying after a while.. and I expect if you have a patient in the back, you'd rather not have that noise going all the time..
