On a job music?

Post by Jared »

I just had a thought, Do you know or think police or any of the emergency services play music while on their way to a job or in the police's case while in persuit of a vehicle or something???
(If I dont make sence then just say so)

I ask because
a) While scaning, the Rocko police had a P2 and while transmitting I heard a song playing in the background.... :o Cant name it but i know it

b) While on way to a job last weekend, we were listening to the radio quietly but then eye of the tiger came on and we turned it up.... and it was a pretty damn cool vibe going around the car. lol.

But yeah, if your in an emergency service have you ever done it or what do you reckon?

Music should be switched off thats stupid...you need to be very cautious and you must concentrate...the music is a distraction, if your tasking normally then sure..but if its a priority then that is stupidity if you have music cranked..

Occasionally... We'll have 96Fm on in the background.

Depending on who else is in the vehicle with you...

Obivously it's not going to be loud enough to the point where you can't hear the two way. But the wail gets so annoying after about .. a minute and half. hahaha.

Maybe you should put 96fm through the siren and listen to the siren in the cabin... Maybe not

I have heard "I fought the law and the law won" a few times through the scanner - obviously only during a quiet period.

The music wasnt sonic loud, i mean loud as in i was in the back of the car and i could hear it well and clear. We dont get priorities etc. ses just drives to a location. Almost exactly like any normal car. No harm at all. And we can hear the two way. All harmless fun. But If you were to do it while on priority and driving on the streets would be a little stupid.. Chief Wiggum style

While responding in the ambulance, I like a choice of several songs...

Little River Band - Help is on its Way

or maybe at a 90, Another one Bites the Dust
Ambul8 - if u break urself i'll fix u! Maybe...

I remember we had a cd player installed in one of our ambulances recently because of the long transfers we did, im talking 500k round trip, gets kind of tedious sitting there for 5 hours listening to the old merc rattling away, everything in the back clunking. The thing is, if you're under priority, and you have to concentrate I wonder how music playing (not excessively loud) and the radio from comms going nuts is any different?

Kinda right. If it was booming loud youd have a problem with a lot of things but if its just loud enough to hear it well i cant see the big problem.... But if it was priority i think its.... hmmm.. kinda irrisponsable if you will.... It would just be a nightmare if you crashed and your senior found out there was music going

driving thru a red light with low level music in the background, irresponsible, plllsss

Ive been going bells and whistles thru a red light and I could hear clear as bell the music from the doof doof P plater car that was doing a bad impression of "assisting my passage".

Perhaps we should ban all other distractiosn while driving P1, such as: the mobile ringing to tell u that the place u r going to has a nutter with a knife and the police wont be there for 15 mins, or the radio beeping out another P1, or other traffic, or birds flying past front window, or the kiddie on the bike....
