New Persuit(?) Vehicle

Post by MrBungle »

Saw a news short saying there will be a story on 7 news tonight about new persuit vehicles. Atleast I think they were persuit vehicles, only just caught the tail end of the ad. Heard something about downsizing to smaller cars too?

Edit: Aaah, too slow, I didn't see This Thread, honest!
Just caught it on 10 too. Astra Turbo Deisels. An effort to reduce carbon emissions. Not persuit vehicles then!

sadly they are pursuite cars , 30% of wapols metro cars will be downgraded to astra's or subaru WRX sti's , the wrx's dont seem so bad but the astra is a let down :(

when i did my work expirience as a mechanic i learnt holden astras , all years , where just plastic fantastic and are slow with no balls , made over seas for over seas conditions , over all my opinoin is these cars as a police car are designed to raise revenue , pulling people over and arnt capable of doing real police work. they wouldent last 2 mins in a real pursuite

top dog recons they can keep up with any other car , hes getting cars and push bikes mixed up again

Well i guess in the pursuit thread only time will tell..how many POI's get away after being chased by police in an astra, and as for the WRX no chance of that :D dont know how well they handle going over kerbs though i can see maybe a few hitting there head.

I've got a 2007 Astra... would love to know how they get that much per tank lol... battling to get 550km/tank around town, and I'm a good, safe, on-the-limit driver hehe...

But that said, they do take off ok. Top speed I'm sure they won't keep up with but. Very sluggish above 100 when you need to put your foot down.

Would be interesting to see one chasing an XR6 Turbo

Forget the astras and wrxs, Ford focus's and focus xr5's are the way to go.

Chicky,
They mentioned that they were looking at the turbo diesel. The diesel astras fuel mileage is around 1000ks compared to what you get with standard fuel.

Time will tell

Does anyone know are the fleet replaced at certain periods of the year like a certain month ?

GUessing by the variance in the klms travelled in ther cars that are going to auction it cant be a klm thing more of a certain time of the month.

I agree with you jmmw, Ford Focus's *should* be the way to go, plenty of power, grunt, sleek and its more rommier inside.

FYI English police have these cars for teh same purchase WAPOL is getting Astra's no problems what so ever!
