The big question is..did the PTA go too far? should they have shutdown the lines?[/quote]

well if the central station is closed what is the point of running any lines when the trains have no where to go?

as for the person who said the cop wouldnt tell them what was happening, no shit, they have more important things to worry about than telling every memeber of the public everything that is happening

dont ya think the public has the right to know what going on, so they can find another way home. just A question :?:

Exactley !!! and i think the PTA did the right thing i mean on the other hand couldve just ignored it and it had of been a real threat well you know football crowds on the way or even on the way home and i can tell you a MCI which would leave perth emergency services up the ****.

Im usually at the station 5pm onwards every sunday waiting for the train to bunbury and if its footy day its busy with people leaving.

and if PTA didn't take the call seriously then what's the point of all their advertising and announcements? Not to mention their credibility, I know that if I reported a suspicious bag and nothing happened, next time I saw one, I'd just phone the police and skip the PTA altogether, which is not what should happen!

I suspect that the PTA get crank calls fairly frequently, so the fact that they took this one more seriously has to indicate that there was more to it than meets the eye.

I heard about it on the radio that afternoon when they said that all trains were stopping one station before the city and people had to find alternative ways of getting to the CBD.

The people who would have made the decision to close city station would have done so with the public's safety in mind. The fact that the station's not closed every second day means they obviously have a good idea when something looks serious or not.

In this case, the philosophy of "better safe than sorry" was the correct one -- the threat must have looked real, which is enough reason to take the action that they did.

I know I'd prefer to be slightly inconvenienced on the way to the football than slightly blown to bits :)

I dont think FRS was involved mate. Was inside a house i think and the job was generated by SJA who could see her but could not get access, they in turn called Wapol who did the breaking in..... at least i think thats what i heard over my airband radio which broke in at the time.

Thanks for that. Looking at the original message i got the numbers mixed and was looking at 215 thinking t/a instead of 251. Explains that one. Too much studying wrecks the brain.
