WAPOL has never used FM92s as far as I know.

More than likely the old Motorola and Tait radios will/have been sold at auction.

Ahhh. I was thinking of UHF. Yes, I stand corrected - they did use FM92s. Heck, now that I think of it I own a few ex-WAPOL VHF ones :-)

Was chatting to an officer from Midland last night (HM102) and he said that North East Metro (Midland District) have suspended intallation of TADIS in their vehicles due to pending OH&S issues. Seems that the digital change over is still in a state of flux.

I would imagine that the change over will not happen in regional areas until well after the city is up and running... our boys are still using carrier pigeons 8)

LOL

Regional districts will certainly be waiting until well after the Metro change over to digital. Our country members will still be enjoying analogue scanning of WAPol for quite some time yet.

WAPOL definately did use FM92s for VHF lo years ago as I have several of them. Also, Water Police use FM92s for VHF Marine and UHF Police Comms.

Well well. Listening in on the trip to work this morning, as of 0730am Tue 5/6/07, the superintendent instructed all vehicles on 48/50 north west metro (Joondalup) to switch to digital and turn on TADIS. ohhhh dear...

Its pretty much become the same as 21/41 now, you can still hear them on the analog cross over.

*EDIT: I'm unsure if any other channels have gone over.

Its TADIS. But I guess since pronouncing 'tadis' sounds a little poncy everyone just calls it tardis.

Yes you can still hear them on the normal channels for now.

I agree yorky:

Spelt TADIS (i believe as an acronym for Tasking And Dispatch Information System???), but pronounced 'tardis' (with the 'r').

As long as a channel is being dual broadcast (analogue & digital) you will still hear voice transmissions. When the analogue sytem is de-commisioned on each channel, then they will go silent.

While a channel is still being dual broadcast, but the TADIS system is being used, the voice traffic will reduce and the information will become less specific, as job details, codes, names, addresses etc will be displayed on screen.

Im finding more and more stuff is just getting sent to them via TADIS and its making hearing "jobs" harder. While listening to the scanner for 12 hours a shift a lot of the time its the tone or panic in the officers voice that alerts you to a possible job.

Hearing the Deltas transmit is getting rare... Im gonna miss those chases :smt089

Yes then what....we'll be all listening to silence with nothing else to do.
