Cost of appliances

Post by bomber »

Noticed that within the budget, the estimated cost of FRS appliances is as follows

Heavy Pumpers - $560,000;
− Light Pumpers:
− Country Pumpers - $396,000;
− Hazmat Structural Rescue Pumpers - $348,000; and
− Light Tankers - $95,000.

Trivial interesting fact

Also shows money allocated for the following stations
Volunteer collocations in Dalwallinu, Derby and Esperance, volunteer fire stations in
Carnarvon and Merredin, and an Emergency Service Centre in Kununurra.

Was chatting to a big wig from FESA in Kalgoorlie the other day and he was talking about the new appliance at Dalwallinu (I think) like you say $300,000+ and how its sitting in the shared building with an ambulance about 40 yrs old :shock: Sounds like good old St John!

He also said they've run out of things to spend the levy on... how about the police and ambulance? :evil:

Note that the stuff in the FESA budget only lists FESA owned/operated brigades/units.. it doesn't indicate what money is being spent on BFS at all.

You're lucky to get given $100k to build a new fire station, if you are a local govt brigade.

is that refering to the cost of new depots ?. is so career or vols ?.
That is usually the max they'll give to a volunteer sub centre committee towards new depots or shed with that huge amount :wink:

yep thats about what our sub centres being offered. When we wanted a new station with the BFS we got nothing from FESA, admittedly the ESL had only just been bought in at the time.

But what about the BIG ticket items.

10 million for a new city fire station (just so the government can get hold of the land the current station is on so i'm told) and

46 million just to relocate FESA's headquarters. Now that is a great amount of money (about 20+% of their budget) that could be better spent else where don't you all think.

It's a 4.4 - I've seen pics of it.

Interesting to see that the budget for the new Merredin VFRS station has gone from $850k to $1.5M. Cost of building has gone up. :?
