The pager reads:
A52 Pls Attend Grass Fire, Maddington Rd Orange Grove, Zone 2.
That whole area is very dry, wouldn't take much for it to run up the hill. Lots of houses and a school.
All Gosnells BFB vehicles should be there.

BGC contracting and several other large trucking depots are based across the road there.. and theres a nasty smell that constantly hangs around there on a regular basis, so i'd imagine theres storage of chemicals or something..Fastlane wrote:Further south at Bushmead X Helena Valley Rd, near Roe Highway.TheDoc wrote:fire now military rd and clayton st midvale zero visibility on roe hwy helitacs on scene

I've smelled that smell going home in the evenings - hope there's nothing too nasty in storage there...xli wrote:BGC contracting and several other large trucking depots are based across the road there.. and theres a nasty smell that constantly hangs around there on a regular basis, so i'd imagine theres storage of chemicals or something..
Every time I look out the office window in the afternoons recently, there's another darned fire!!!
Theres that too.. but a few times i've gone past theres another man-made smell. Not as bad as that cattle smell though! Nasty that..TheDoc wrote:the only thing i ever smell out there is the cattleyards
I heard a bit earlier too that the helitacs were focusing on a spot to do with the trucks? I believe somewhere in the trucking area petroleum is being stored.. havent heard anything more though.

The god awfull stench to which you reffer comes from the animal meat processing plant that hides in the bush on the corner of Stirling and the Gt East Bybass. The foul smell is all invasive, and anyone living within a 5km radius is at the mercy of the prevailing wind direction.xli wrote:... and theres a nasty smell that constantly hangs around there on a regular basis, so i'd imagine theres storage of chemicals or something..

FESA advises residents at home in the locality of Orange Grove that a bush fire which began on the corner of Maddington Road and Boyle Lane has been contained.
Residents in the vicinity are advised to turn evaporative air-conditioners off and to keep the water running in the system.
